Redneck Yacht Club

We have been to this place twice one year apart. The first trip we rented kayaks from the redneck yacht club. For $30 a piece. We rented 2. This year we brought our own kayaks. It was only $5 dollar per kayak rental For the shuttle fee.

The trip is a 7 mile trip. We left at 11am and we got to the dock port at 7:00pm. We took our time. Last year when we went we left first shuttle and got out at 4:30pm. It was a nice trip. There are many opportunities to see so much in the 7 miles. You see lots of wildlife. Many turtles. Birds. There are different spots to pull off and jump off in the water. It is clear water. You can see right down to the bottom of the river. You will see the fish swimming by you. Turtles also. There was a spot where there is a sandy spot where you can drop your garbage off. Across the river there is a rock wall with a rope swing. We watched everyone jump and take turns on the rope swing.

The redneck yacht club is also building the Hippie Hole it is 2 miles down the river. They will have a dock spot for people who want to do half the trip. It will have picnic areas. Horse shoes. BBQ plates so you don't have to pack food on your trip. It was nice chatting with the guys working on the lot.

They have camping primitive, and water and electric. They have cabins. Also they have this really cool tree house it sleeps 8. They have a rope swing off the deck, water slide. We are looking forward to a day where we can rent the tree house.

The river was low both trips we took. The water was still flowing pretty good. There are rapids but they are not like white water rapids. Even thou I felt like we where the first few times I went threw them. Different kayaks feel different in the water. The kayaks we bought where higher off the water then the ones we rented so my husband Cozmo tipped his a couple times. We where able to have a life jacket in the kayak with us. You don't have to wear it unless you want too. As long as you have one in the kayak with you, you will be fine with fish and game.

For  rates on camping and canoe and kayak rentals go to there website. This is a peaceful trip. I would suggest this trip for family or couples. They are very friendly people over there at the redneck yacht club. This is Piedmont Al. It is a really great get away in Alabama. I would say it is a must do for anyone who wants to get away from the everyday and enjoy peace and quiet. I would say a Friday is the best time, weekends are busy with lots of people on the creek.

Until we meet again
